Another Lakeside 5K Series is in the books, and what a series it’s been. Huge thanks to everyone who laced up across the five races — whether you ran one, three, or all five, you made this series what it is.
A Quick Refresher on the Competitions
For the 2026 series, we approached prizes differently than the previous years – and even differently from most races you may come across. Instead of awarding prizes for the fastest in each race, or the fastest of the series, we wanted to give more people a chance to win. Here’s how the prizes worked:
Overall Series — Complete all 5 races and score points based on your finish within your age category at each race; only the top 5 in your age category score (1st place 5 points, 2nd place 4 points, down to 1 point for 5th). The man and woman with the most points across the series win. We loved this concept because it didn’t just reward speed but also consistency.
Best in Age Category — Complete 3 or more of the 5 races, and your three quickest times are added together. The lowest total time in each age category takes the win. This gave people in all age categories a chance to win and compete within their age group.
Winners will be notified by email, and Best in Age Category prizes can be collected from Alexandra Sports, Portsmouth.
And the Winners Are…
Overall Series
Men
With both Martin Williams (V60) and Oliver Isaia (U14) both scoring the maximum 25 points, the tiebreaker came down to adding all of their 5 race times together and seeing who was quickest. We’re thrilled to announce that Oliver is our overall series men’s winner.
Women
Congratulations to Anni Cooter, our overall series women’s winner.
